Ciutadella, at the western end of the island, keeps its old town of palaces, arcades and the Gothic cathedral above a long, narrow harbour. It is the base for the coves of the south-west and the Naveta des Tudons.
The old town
The Plaça des Born, Ses Voltes and the cathedral are the heart of it; Faustino Gran and Can Sastre are old-town hotels.

The port
The harbour quays are lined with restaurants; Café Balear is on the Passeig del Moll, and the Castell de Sant Nicolau watches the harbour mouth.
Walk the old town in the morning, the port in the evening.
The coves
Macarella, Turqueta and Son Saura are south of town; in season, take the Consell’s bus to Macarella.
Our advice: stay in the old town and keep a car only for the days you go to the coves.
