About Mallorca from Menorca: the back story

Mallorca is Menorca’s large neighbour to the south-west. Menorca Lines runs a fast ferry from Ciutadella to Port d’Alcúdia, and Trasmed sails from Maó to Palma and Alcúdia. Our sister guide covers the island in depth.

Getting there

Menorca Lines: Ciutadella–Alcúdia fast ferry (menorcalines.com). Trasmed: Maó–Palma and Maó–Alcúdia, Ciutadella–Alcúdia (trasmed.com). Check timetables on the operators’ sites.

What to see

Palma’s cathedral and old town, the UNESCO Serra de Tramuntana and the wooden train to Sóller, and the lighthouse road to Formentor. See the ULTIMATE Mallorca Island Guide.

Our sister guide, the ULTIMATE Mallorca Island Guide, covers the island in depth.

Our advice: from Alcúdia, the bays of Pollença and Formentor are the closest; Palma deserves a night.
